Forest School
Our Forest School is a much-loved and integral part of school life, giving every child the chance to learn, explore and grow in the natural world. All children from Year 1 to Year 6 take part in Forest School for half a term each year, while our Reception children enjoy sessions every single week.
Led by our three qualified Forest School leaders, Mrs Potter, Mrs Scholes and Mrs Potter, sessions are carefully designed to nurture curiosity, resilience and independence through hands-on, outdoor experiences.
At the junior site, our extensive woodland provides a rich, ever-changing hub of nature and discovery. Children explore, build, problem-solve and observe the seasons in a truly immersive environment. At the infant site, our smaller but vibrant ‘Green World’ offers just as many opportunities for adventure and learning, with a campfire and seating area, den building, mud kitchen, planting areas, tree climbing and plans to develop this space even further.
Forest School supports far more than outdoor play. It develops confidence, teamwork, perseverance and risk awareness, key skills that prepare children for lifelong learning. The freedom to explore, investigate and reflect in a natural setting strengthens communication, creativity and critical thinking. These experiences translate directly into the classroom, supporting academic progress by improving focus, language development, problem-solving skills and emotional regulation.
Above all, Forest School gives children the time, space and trust to discover what they are capable of, fostering a love of learning that stays with them long after they leave our woods.
