SEND

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Polehampton, we believe that all children need to be taught according to their individual needs. If a child is experiencing difficulties in the classroom, parents will be consulted and procedures of assessment and identification of special needs will be implemented in accordance with the school's policy on Special Educational Needs and the DfE SEN Code of Practice.

We have a designated Special Needs Co-coordinator (SENDCo) Mrs Pierro (four days) and Miss Yapp (two daysSENDCo) across the two schools.  We also have a designated SEND governor, Sarah Tang. Together, they have responsibility for monitoring provision for SEND within the schools.

Teachers and the SENDCo work closely to provide relevant individual learning plans (ILPs) for each child.  Teachers are always the first point of contact for parents who have any concerns about their child, in school, they are the ones who know your child best.

Parents will be regularly informed of progress and encouraged to work closely with the teachers and teaching assistants to support their child.
