Founded on a vision of adventure and discovery, the David George Field Study Trust continues a legacy that began in 1972, when Headteacher, David George, first opened Oakdale Field Study Centre in the Forest of Dean.

For nearly 30 years, hundreds of Polehampton Junior School pupils explored nature, history, and science at Oakdale; gaining not only knowledge but independence and lifelong memories.

Today, the Trust ensures that spirit lives on. Through the careful investment of funds from Oakdale’s sale, pupils continue to benefit from enriching field trips and hands-on learning experiences; broadening horizons just as David George intended.
