About our nursery

Welcome to Polehampton Nursery

We are delighted to be opening our new nursery provision, called Polehampton Nursery, on Thursday 03 September 2026 — an exciting new chapter for our school and community.

At Polehampton, everything we do is rooted in our vision of wanting all pupils and staff to “let your light shine” and our commitment to providing a happy, stimulating and caring environment where every child is known, valued and able to flourish. Our new nursery has been designed with this same ambition at its heart: to give children the very best possible start to their learning journey.

At Polehampton Nursery, our vision is for our youngest pupils to let their little lights shine.

A place where your child will thrive

Our nursery will offer a nurturing, high-quality early years experience where children feel safe, confident and excited to learn. We know that the earliest years are crucial, and our approach is built around the following:

  • Warm, caring relationships: Every child is supported to feel secure, happy and ready to explore
  • Learning through play and discovery: Rich, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and imagination
  • Individualised care and attention: Recognising that every child develops in their own unique way
  • A strong focus on communication, language and social development: Building the foundations for lifelong success

Just as in the main schools of Polehampton Infants and Polehampton Juniors, we are committed to developing the whole child, ensuring they grow as confident, happy and thoughtful individuals.

Rooted in our values

Polehampton Nursery is built upon the same values that underpin our wider Polehampton school community: gratitude, friendship, perseverance, forgiveness, honesty and compassion.

These are not just words — they shape daily life in the nursery. Through stories, play, routines and relationships, our nursery children will begin to understand how to:

  • build friendships and work together
  • show kindness and empathy
  • develop independence and resilience
  • understand the world around them.

As a Church of England school, we also provide a caring and inclusive environment where all children and families are welcomed and respected, whatever their background or beliefs. Whilst there is no expectation for daily collective worship in nursery as there is within the main school, the ethos of a respectful, welcoming environment for all will remain the same.

Inspiring a love of learning from the very start

Our nursery curriculum is carefully designed to be meaningful, relevant and inspiring, reflecting children’s interests and encouraging them to explore, question and discover. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and other key guidance documents from the DfE.

Children at Polehampton Nursery will benefit from the following:

  • engaging indoor and outdoor environments
  • opportunities for creativity, exploration and problem-solving
  • early experiences in reading, language and number
  • access to our wider school grounds and facilities, including outdoor and forest school learning.

We want every child to leave our nursery with a love of learning, growing confidence, and a strong sense of who they are.

A nurturing, small nursery, but part of something bigger

Choosing Polehampton Nursery means getting all the benefits of a small, caring nursery community, but also becoming part of a warm, established wider school community with a strong reputation for care, ambition and high-quality education. Our early years provision builds seamlessly into Reception and beyond, giving your child a smooth, confident transition into school life, and our PTA work will extend to our nursery as well.
