Guinea Pigs
We are lucky enough to have two much-loved guinea pigs at the Junior School called Jacqueline and Roberta (affectionately known as Jackie and Bob). They are cared for by our care teams, who tend to them three times a day, and the children also have special opportunities to visit, spend time with them and generally enjoy their company.
The children absolutely adore learning from our little furry friends and discover that building a bond with animals is about so much more than cuddles. It’s about slowing down, watching closely and really noticing what they are telling us through their behaviour. The children learn to tune into how Jackie and Bob are feeling, respond to their needs and help them thrive by adding enrichment to their home and run. Some of the most special moments come simply from sitting quietly together, building trust and connection in a calm and caring way.
They currently reside in the heart of our school, the Sensory Courtyard.
