Sports At Polehampton

Polehampton has a strong legacy for sport, with a long-standing reputation for encouraging children to take part and succeed in running, athletics and football. From an early age, children are supported to build confidence and enjoy being active, starting with simple, fun experiences in Key Stage 1 and gradually moving towards more structured and healthy competition in Key Stage 2. Facilities such as the long jump pit help to enrich this experience, giving children the opportunity to try different athletic events and develop their physical skills in an engaging way.

In Key Stage 1, sport is kept safe, inclusive and non-competitive so that every child can focus on enjoyment, movement and building confidence. As they move through the school, this naturally develops into friendly, healthy competition where children learn teamwork, resilience and how to celebrate both effort and achievement.  Events such as Sports Day and the Swimming Gala (KS2) reflect this approach, ensuring every child is included, supported, and able to feel proud of what they can do in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
